Who is Karla?
Girls care about the world around them yet many never learn how to become part of the political pipeline. Focusing on key ideas like civility, compromise, courage, and empowerment, The Justice Girls explores issues that matter to girls including all of the awkwardness and wonder of growing up.
Inspired by the activism and courage of real-world Justice Girls like Malala Yousafzai, Ruby Bridges, Anne Frank, and Clara Lemlic (to name just a few), The Justice Girls is a middle grade novel series that teaches girls how to be friends, activists, and leaders - in a global world.
As a political scientist and mother to my own Justice Girl, I want girls to think of politics and activism as a place where they belong.
Who is Hayden?
Hayden is an 11-year-old Justice Girl who loves to read, draw, and hang out with her friends.
She loves the Justice Girls because they are strong. Lucy is the leader, Leila the peace-maker, Beth is the "shy but strong" girl, and Mei is the fashionista of the four.
